"Inverted Normals" or "Outline" feature

You know what I like? Outlines. They’re just so stylish to me!
You know what a LOT of 3D games don’t do? Outlines.
You know what Luduvo could have in the future? A component that lets us easily add outlines to parts, meshes, and even player models would be SO cool! There’s a game that does this on the dreamcast really well- Jet Set Radio! It really makes the characters pop.
Oh, and for a more well-known one that wasn’t stuck on a console that was dead in the water, there’s Sly Cooper and the Theivuius Raccoonus for the Playstation 2. I guess :/

A certain other platform did this with the “highlight” instance, but we couldn’t control the thickness of the lines, which was SUCH a shame! The feature itself was solid, but I’d like to see a more in-depth version of that. Let us change the lineweight, let us have bolder lines or even inconsistent lines for a more “sketchy” feel.
While I think I heard that shaders were a target for Luduvo, I’d love to see a quick and easy way to get a bold line effect for people who aren’t as well-versed with shader code.

I love 2017X

Planned! Right now one way people get outlines is by duplicate of the mesh slightly larger and inverted.

Which looks similar to the technique in your game screenshot. But we are adding a pipeline that will make these kinds of effects much easier!

I’ll have you know it was 1:30 in the morning where I was when I first saw this, and I straight up almost screamed LOL.

Good to know it’s planned!
