Hello everyone!
By the time you’re reading this, Luduvo has either launched or is about to launch. Either way, it’s bringing a tear to our eyes here at the Luduvo team. Whether that’s a tear of joy or a tear of pure terror is entirely up to your interpretation though :-)
We’ve spent a long time building this thing in the dark, and every single person on this team has poured their blood, sweat, and tears into making Luduvo as awesome as it can possibly be. But we also know the hype has been building for a while, and hype has a way of setting expectations somewhere up in the stratosphere. So before you dive in, let’s talk honestly about what you’re walking into.
Here’s the short version:
- There will be bugs, and we want to hear about them
- We don’t have every feature yet, and that’s okay
- Be civil, because we take this seriously from day one
- This is day one, not the finish line
- Go make something awesome
Now the longer version.
Bugs
If you’re joining Luduvo on the very first day and you’re not expecting to run into at least a few bugs, you’re kidding yourself. We’re kidding ourselves too if we pretend otherwise.
Launch day is the first time a platform meets the real world, and the real world is a lot weirder and a lot more creative than any test environment we could ever build. Things are going to break in ways we didn’t anticipate. Something is going to load slowly. Something is going to look wrong on your specific device. Somewhere out there, someone is going to find a way to do something we genuinely did not know was possible.
What we can promise is how we respond. We’re watching closely, we’re going to move fast, and we’d genuinely love your help. If you hit something broken, tell us. A bug we hear about in the first hour is a bug we can fix in the first day. A bug that quietly annoys a thousand people who never mention it can sit there for weeks. So please, speak up. You’re not bothering us. You’re helping.
Features
Our platform has a lot to offer for what we’re building, but we’ll be upfront: some of our competitors currently offer more features than we do. That’s just true, and pretending otherwise would be silly.
Here’s why we’re okay with it. We chose to launch with a smaller set of things done properly rather than a giant pile of things done halfway. That means some stuff you might expect isn’t here yet, and we know that’s frustrating when you’re used to it elsewhere.
But “not yet” is doing a lot of work in that sentence. The team is working around the clock to close that gap, and we’re not aiming to eventually catch up to the industry. We’re aiming to lead it. Every week from here, this place is going to be more capable than it was the week before.
And you have real influence over what we build next. What you ask for, what you complain about, what you clearly love using: all of it shapes the roadmap. This is the earliest and most influential you will ever be as a Luduvo user, so use it to your advantage.
Basically: expect the Luduvo team to be pushing updates at least once a week, and big ones at that.
Civility
Be civil. We mean it, and we’re going to back it up.
If we see people treating each other badly on this platform, we will not hesitate to take serious moderation action. That’s not a warning we’re issuing reluctantly because we have to. It’s a core part of what we’re building.
A safe space isn’t something you bolt on once a platform gets big enough to have problems. By then it’s too late, and the culture has already set. So we’re treating moderation as a day-one priority, not a day-one-thousand cleanup job. The tone that gets established in the first few weeks tends to be the tone that sticks around for years, and we intend to get it right the first time.
The overwhelming majority of you are here to build cool things and have a good time with other people, and you’re going to have a great time. But if you came here to make this worse for everyone else, we’d rather you find out early that this isn’t the place for that.
This is day one
One more thing worth saying out loud.
What you’re seeing today is the worst Luduvo will ever be. Everything from here is us making it better, faster, and more capable, with a lot of that direction coming from the people actually using it.
We’re a small team building something ambitious, and the honest truth is that we can’t do the next part without you. The people who show up early and stick around are the ones who genuinely shape what a platform becomes. We’re not trying to flatter you or anything, it’s just how this works.
Make it awesome
That’s the real ask. Build something. Break something and tell us how. Meet people. Be the kind of person who makes this place better by being in it.
Thank you for being here on day one. Genuinely. We hope you love it, we hope you tell us when you don’t, and we cannot wait to see what you make.
See you in there.
